Lake Columbia
bream have been biting well in about five feet of water around the
lily pads with worms or crickets. Bass are hitting spinner baits
with willow leaf blades and white skirts. Fishermen are catching
catfish weighing up to 15 pounds on trotlines using shiners.
Bream have
scattered at Lake Erling. Bass are hitting six-inch black and
blue tailed worms. Anglers are catching catfish weighing up to 15
pounds with shiners on trotlines.
White Oak
Lake is producing good bream on crickets.
DEER, BEAR
SEASONS GET COMMISSION APPROVAL
The Arkansas
Game and Fish Commission approved several deer and bear hunting
season revisions for 2003 at a recent meeting. The statewide
seasonal deer limit, set at three, will include no more than two
legal bucks and no more than one doe, with the exception of bag
limit restrictions on WMA’s. Gun deer season for Zones 4A, 5A, 9,
12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 will run November 8 - December 7. Deer
muzzle loading season for Zones, 1, 2, 3, 4A, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,
ll, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A and 17 are October 18 - 21 and
December 20 - 22. The season for Zones 4 and 5 is October 18 -
21. Bear season for muzzle loaders in bear Zones 1 and 2 was set
for October 18-21. The following deer seasons were approved:
Archer/Cross
Bow:
Zones 1, 2,
3, 4, 4A, 5, 5A, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 16A and
17: October 1, 2003 - February 15, 2004.
Statewide bag
limit apply. No dogs.
Gun:
Zones 1, 2
and 3: November 8 - November 16 and November 27 - December 7,
2003. Legal bucks only (does may be taken by holders of zone
quota doe permits). No dogs.
Zones 4:
November 8 - November 9, 2003. Statewide bag limit applies.
Zone 5:
November 8 - November 9, 2003 and November 15 - November 16,
2003.
Statewide bag
limit applies. No dogs.
Zones 6, 7,
8, 10, and 11: November 8 - November 16 and November 27 -
