The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has removed all fishing regulations at Bays Branch to allow anglers to harvest fish using nearly any means, except explosives, electricity or any stupefying substances. The DNR has begun to lower the water level at Bays Branch to promote development of emergent vegetation, which is important as food and habitat to waterfowl, songbirds and other marsh mammals.

Winter anglers are reminded that fish houses placed on North Dakota waters must be made of floatable materials. Robert Timian, enforcement chief for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, said that old car bodies or campers, including pull types, fifth wheelers or pop-ups, do not qualify as legal fish houses.

DNR issues safety reminder for boaters to stop that
prop. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds
boat operators to make sure they turn off their engines when
people are in the water near the back of the boat. This safety
message comes after an accident on Monday in the Twin Cities where
a man was injured by a boat propeller.
