Lifetime
license sales generate nearly $360,000 to date
News from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Since
its introduction 10 weeks ago, sales of lifetime hunting and fishing
licenses have exceeded $360,000, according to the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Money collected from the
sales of these licenses are deposited in Lifetime Licensing Trust
Fund until used for fish and wildlife habitat work. Almost 900
licenses have been sold.
To
date, the most popular lifetime license is the sports license, which
is a combination of angling and small game. The second most popular
license is the angling license. Firearms deer and small game
lifetime licenses are also available.
“We
projected that we would sell about $500,000 worth of lifetime
licenses by June 30 of this year,” said Tom Baumann, DNR
Information, Education and Licensing Bureau administrator. “So we
are well on the way.”
Lifetime
licenses are processed through DNR’s Central Office at 500
Lafayette Road in St. Paul, but fact sheets and application forms
are available at most license outlets, on the DNR Web site at www.dnr.state.mn.us,
or by calling the DNR Information Center at (651) 296-6157 (Twin
Cities metro area) or toll free 1-888-MINNDNR (646-6367).
