Gulf of Mexico |

Gulf of
Mexico - by Steve Powell & Chris Sapp
August is
here and it is HOT. The fish will be deeper on the offshore
towers and wrecks. Grouper, snapper, AJs, cobia and kings will
all be offshore in the deeper water Summer time is here and it is
hot.
For a great
trip on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, contact Chuck Mansfield at
Carrabelle Fish and Dive located in Carrabelle, FL off Hwy. 98 at
the Moorings Marina. To get to Carrabelle, take Hwy. 319 south
from Tallahassee and follow U.S. 98 West. The Moorings Marina is
on your left just before the bridge.
Carrabelle
Fish and Dive can provide you with the Florida Panhandle’s best
deep sea fishing, offshore fishing, trolling, bottom fishing,
overnight trips,
spear fishing
or diving. They do it all! They are U.S.C.G. licensed and Coast
Guard approved. You will really have an exciting time. Give them
a call at 850-697-8765 today!
So you like
to go offshore and bottom fish or troll the Gulf? Well, here’s
your guy! Captain Randy Jossey owner of Seawolf Charters can sure
get the job done for you by putting you on the fish. Randy is
U.S.C.G. licensed. He furnishes the boat, of course, license,
tackle, ice and the fish. His rates are very fair at $125.00 per
person with a 4 person minimum. Spring is here and it’s time to
hit the Gulf of Mexico. Call today at 229-435-6326 and book your
trip. He’s filling up fast. Seawolf Charters is located at 2019
Lighthouse Rd., Carrabelle, Florida 32322.
Capt. Tom
Stephens of Top Notch Offshore Sportfishing writes, “This month
has produced some great catches and has been one of the most fun
months I have ever had. Not only have the fish been biting but the
people I have taken out have been great folks on the boat. The
weather patterns have been a little strange as we are still having
fronts move through the area and cause some windy conditions.
August fishing should be great for grouper, snapper, amberjack,
kingfish and near shore fish such as trout, Spanish mackerel,
bluefish and of course a great fish, the tarpon. Tarpon season is
here now. If you haven’t booked a tarpon trip do not wait until
the last minute as I am already getting filled up.” You will not
find a Captain with a better attitude or more knowledge about
fishing or the charter fishing business. His personal goal on
every trip is that everyone has a fun and enjoyable trip. If you
want to have fun and catch fish, give Captain Tom a call at
850-566-9312 or go to his web site at
www.topnotchoffshore.com.
Scallop
season opened on July 1st and runs until September 10th.
Good reports of scallops are starting to come in from Lanark and
St. Joe Bay. Check out the waters between Suwannee and Mexico
Beach for a good way to cool off from this summer heat. Check
all your safety gear before you head out. Now that hot weather is
here, pay particular attention to the strong thunderstorms that
can come up in the Gulf so suddenly. Pay close attention to the
forecast, and head in at the first sign of an approaching storm.
It’s just not worth the risk. Until next month, stay safe and keep
only what you can use. |
