Lake Sinclair
- by David Smith
Beautiful
Lake Sinclair is definitely at full pool on June 4th as
I am writing this thanks to all the rain we had in May. The main
river channel is very muddy but the secondary creeks are starting
to clear up. Both ends of the cove across from my house are full
of bedding bream. You can smell them from across the lake. This is
a great opportunity to put some fish in the freezer for a July 4th
fish fry. Kids will love the experience of fishing for these easy
to catch fish. Wives will also love it so take them along too
guys. Bass fishing should be good early and late in the day and
great at night. Take advantage of the great fishing on Lake
Sinclair and a great summer. Doc and his wife Fay are making big
plans for their retirement starting in July. Doc told us that they
have plans to travel and see many friends and family across the
country. Oconee Springs Park is a much better place because of all
the hard work Doc and Fay have done over the years at the park.
Doc is planning to leave the park in good hands; he is overseeing
the hiring process of his replacement. On my last visit no
replacement had been named yet. I will introduce the new manager
next month. Good luck and safe travel Doc and Fay and you will be
missed. Call now for availability of cabins for a nice spring time
outing or fishing trip. The cabins at Oconee Springs Park are
nice. They are fully furnished except for the linens –you have to
bring your own. They also have cable TV and each cabin has a deck
and an outside grill. They even have handicapped accessible
cabins. The park is very nice and also offers a peaceful
atmosphere. Give Oconee Springs Park a try on your next adventure
in the Lake Sinclair area.
John Williams
of Williams Sports Center says to come to Milledgeville and see
his full selection of hunting and fishing supplies. He has plenty
of Browning guns in stock. They are the only authorized Browning
dealer in the Sinclair area. They have good selection of hunting
clothes and boots. Williams even has Redhead snake boots and they
are guaranteed snake proof. These boots are at a real good price,
see ad for details. For you fishermen, Williams Sports Center has
a very good selection of rods and reels, fishing line, hooks, and
weights. They also have the largest selection of Zoom plastics in
Milledgeville for the Bass fisherman and they have plenty of
triple ripple grubs for Crappie fishing. They also have very
nice gun safes to protect all of your prized rifles and shotguns.
They have everything you need for turkey season including box
calls, slate calls and decoys. So don’t let turkey season sneak
up on you, go by Williams Sports Center and stock up.
Twin Bridges
Landing on Lake Sinclair is well stocked with fishing items. They
also offer a great location to launch your boat. There is a bridge
right at the boat ramp with good rip rap rocks to fish this month
at the water warms. They are an authorized Mercury dealer and
repair facility. Twin Bridges sells Weeres Pontoons powered by
Mercury. They have very competitive prices on their pontoons and
they now have their 2003 pontoons in stock. Contact Twin Bridges
at the marina phone number listed in the ad and they will be glad
to store your boat for you. If you need anything for fishing from
groceries, bait and tackle, to gas they have what you need.
Remember, Twin Bridges Landing is the closest marina to Macon and
Warner Robins. They sell Mister Twister Exude, Reaction Lures and
Zoom plastic baits. They also have boat batteries, oil, floating
crappie lights for night fishing, coolers, and even ice cream.
Stop in and see Sammy at Wooten’s Barber Shop in Eatonton, GA.

usual and telling plenty of good stories. So, if you need to look
good in the woods or on the water and it’s time for a trim, stop
by and see Sammy. If all you want to do is joke around and talk he
still invites you to come by to see him in action. Sammy has a
lot of interesting pictures on his wall for you to look at when
you come in for a cut. Call Wooten’s and get a haircut appointment
today or just walk on in and he will cut it just the same. Call
706-485-5002 or 485-7730 or come by today if you want to meet one

everything from gas to groceries and even lottery tickets if
you’re feeling lucky. This is one of the most winning places
around. Come by Red’s Minit Mart and get some crickets or minnows
before you head to Lake Sinclair or Oconee. Be sure you go by and
check them out and if you have a photo you want to put on their
“Braggin’ Board” they will be glad to add yours to their
collection. This month when I went by Red’s there was only one
picture of a gobbler on the board. No fish and no other turkeys.
It is time to see some fishermen on the Braggin Board, so all you
fishermen in the area take your cameras to the area lakes and
ponds and bring a picture to Red’s and I will put you in our
magazine so you can carry around your own personal braggin board.
