Resources (DNR) is seeking public review and comment on the
proposed construction of an 11-mile ATV trail connecting the city
of Chisholm with Highway 5 and Connor’s Road just northwest of the
city in west-central St. Louis County.

many snowmobilers are tuning up their sleds and preparing to hit
the trails. Snowmobile season begins as many counties open trails.

The Iowa Department of Natural
Resources has removed all fishing regulations at Bays Branch to
allow anglers to harvest fish using nearly any means, except
explosives, electricity or any stupefying substances. The DNR has
begun to lower the water level at Bays Branch to promote
development of emergent vegetation, which is important as food and
habitat to waterfowl, songbirds and other marsh mammals.

Winter anglers are reminded that
fish houses placed on North Dakota waters must be made of
floatable materials. Robert Timian, enforcement chief for the
North Dakota Game and Fish Department, said that old car bodies
or campers, including pull types, fifth wheelers or pop-ups, do
not qualify as legal fish houses.

DNR issues safety reminder for boaters to stop that
prop. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) reminds
boat operators to make sure they turn off their engines when
people are in the water near the back of the boat. This safety
message comes after an accident on Monday in the Twin Cities where
a man was injured by a boat propeller.

MADISON – Preliminary figures show that
hunters set a new harvest record, registering 51,306 turkeys
during Wisconsin’s 2007 spring wild turkey season. This is a 9
percent increase from the 2006 spring harvest of 46,662 birds. The
statewide hunter success rate for all hunting periods was 25
percent, compared to 23 percent in 2006.

that anglers are extremely happy," said Wallace. "Most of the
younger anglers I interview are saying that they've never caught

2007 archery game fish season will be July 1 - Dec. 31. Archers
are allowed to take game fish statewide, sunrise to sunset, except
at the following waters which are closed to game fish archers
year-round: Two Rivers, Louisville, Fort Kearny, Fremont, Mormon
Island and Windmill state recreation areas; Platte River and E.T.
Mahoney state parks and all trout streams.

third consecutive mountain lion hunting season at its June meeting
in Pierre. In the process, commissioners and GFP staff were

Online applications for North
Dakota’s 2007 fall turkey season are now available. Resident
hunters can apply, or print out an application for mailing, at
the state Game and Fish Department’s website, gf.nd.gov. Paper
applications will be available at license vendors by June 15.
The fall wild turkey proclamation, submitted to Gov. John
Hoeven’s office for approval, includes a season that extends
from Saturday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.

an open house when vehicle permits are waived and admission is
free. As an added open house bonus, many states parks also will

The passing of an expedited emergency rule has allowed the 2007
fishing season opener for Minnesota-South Dakota border waters to

Sept. 1 and hunters are reminded they must register with the
federally mandated Harvest Information Program (HIP) and must

migratory game birds -- dove, duck, geese, snipe, rail, coot or
