Archery
Shooting Beyond Your Best

Hello Bowhunters! If you did not involve yourself with all the folks at CENLA Bowbenders back in January, you missed out on a spectacular event. The tournament was a blast. For me it was special because it was a time for my family and I to get out and do something we like; shoot bows and talk with friends. The people of CENLA Bowbenders are joined together as families for families and to benefit the sport of archery. This non-profit organization is the largest archery club in Louisiana and growing every year. They have a stellar year planned for 1999. These events are a good time with the highest level of competition and can add up to some serious excitement for kids, ladies and men. After playing hard you are sure to work up an appetite. Loosen your belt for some of the finest home cooked grub to ever hit a paper plate. On this particular tournament the tablefare was venison chili. My! My! if you missed it, I feel for you.

Another advantage the bowhunters of Louisiana have over many other states is a statewide organization, the Bayou State Bowhunters Association (BSBA). The BSBA has 8 Directors and the state is broken down into districts. Each district has several advisors. The BSBA has over 2,000 members. It is responsible for upholding laws, morals and ethics of anyone that shoots a bow in Louisiana. They have fought hard to introduce legislature to benefit the bowhunter; as well as, stopping bills from being passed to the detriment of the sport. You can thank the BSBA for not having to wear hunters orange while bowhunting, and be grateful to them for not having to share the woods with 10,000 crossbows near your favorite stand. Mr. Russell Lantier is the Association Director and has a group of well educated and dedicated group of directors and members who are striving to make all things possible for those with a love for the sport of archery.

I urge you to get involved with the BSBA, the CENLA Bowbenders, or the local archery club in your area. Take advantage of the competition, the fun and the good cooking I am always writing about. You won’t be disappointed. This can also help you, Perform Beyond Your Best. May God Bless.
