I spoke to Mark over at Carys Sporting Goods, and he
told me to remind folks that they will have their in-house BOAT SHOW on Feb. 26 - 28 in
Ville Platte. Make sure you visit him before you buy that boat. The Sac-au-lait are really
beginning to pick up now both on Chicot and Miller lakes. They are also catching some nice
Bass on Chicot (see the cover).
Dalbis Meat Market in Ville Platte says for all you hunters with deer still in the
freezer to bring em in for processing. If you need your fishing license they can help you
out; as well as, fix you up with your cold drinks, snacks and ice.
Bruce at Boar Busters has been busy booking hunts for hogs and geese. Give him or Sissy
a call to see what days are still open, and hurry!!
Courtesy Automotive of Evangeline has your boat/trailer towing machine. It wont
be long before the year 2000 models are out, so check out their super deals now.
Give Matt a call at T&J RV Sales in Ville Platte and go by to check out the
campers. He has some great special spring deals to get you ready for your summer camping.
Goose Hunters Be Warned - Proposed Snow Goose Hunting Season Changes Contingent On
USFWS Action. There has been a lot of talk and misinformation regarding extending the Snow
Goose season, no bag limits, allowing electronic calls and unplugged guns. As of this time
the season has not been changed and the use electronic calls and unplugged gun remains
prohibited. Hunters are urged to continue with traditional hunting methods until clearly
informed by the LDWF that the use of unplugged guns and electronic calls has been
sanctioned by USFWS action.
A final rule must be completed by USFWS in early February. One roadblock to initiating
these regulations during this hunting season is possible legal action by anti-hunting
groups. Without this action, the Snow Goose season will continue with traditional hunting
methods, bag limits and shooting hours until February 21, 1999.
