store in the heart of the city. With many inner city lakes to

around. The store offers rod and reel repairs. You can buy a
license here also for hunting and fishing.
Even though hunting dominates the minds of
sportsmen at this time of year, Jeff at Cabin Fever Sporting
Goods (952-443-2022) in Victoria encourages fishermen to
sample late fall fishing. Minnesota River walleyes are biting,
just about any pocket or hole adjacent to shallow flat or rapids
holds fish. A simple jig and minnow will intice walleyes from
river pools. During low light periods its best to throw or troll
crankbaits across shallow rocks and gravel. Lake Minnetonka’s
numerous narrows and channels are experiencing walleye bites. For
more information on hunting and fishing, stop in and see Jeff. He
is signing people up for indoor Archery leagues that will start
after the first of the year. He has a large selection of bows and
firearms for what ever you are looking for. He will buy and trade
new and used guns.
Mase’s In-Towne Marina
(952-442-2096) on Lake Waconia, views late fall as the perfect
opportunity to bag big walleyes. Probe the weed edges and pockets
for feeding walleyes. Cindy recommends 8 to 12 feet of water and
this is the depth to find daytime walleyes foraging for food.
Early in the morning and at dusk your odds improve shallower,
along the inside weededge. Begin at the public beach and whip
crankbaits toward shore or walk along the bank and cast out. The
Clay Banks, situated northeast of the public landing, offers the
perfect blend of weeds, rock, sand, and breaklines. Peterson’s
Creek is another fall walleye magnet. Walleyes aren’t the only
fish species worth pursuing. Large slow moving lures will work
with largemouth bass. First Ice: Cindy and here crew will be open
for business the moment anglers are able to drag buckets and hand
augers across the ice, which usually occurs in December. Mase’s
also takes fish house reservations when the shop re-opens.

COON LAKE MARKET
651-464-7614 Is located right on the edge of Coon Lake.
There is several accesses to the lake, the county put in a nice
public access that is easy to use. Coon Lake offers a selection
of fish , northern, bass, walleye, crappie, and sunnies. The area
is also a good hunting area. At the store you will find bait and
tackle, groceries, and other supplies. They can fill your L.P.
tank for you.
Blue Ribbon Bait &
Tackle (651-777-2412) in Oakdale, is the time now to go out
and hook some really nice walleyes. Autumn’s chill sends metro
area walleyes to predictable spots, but with the low water these
spots are hard to find without some effort. Look for steeply
breaking shorelines, current areas, rocks channels/narrows and
culverts. Steep breaks yield walleyes immediate access to both
deepwater refuge and shallow food shelves. Rocks hold lots of
food, and rock in conjunction with a break is particularly
engaging. Channels, narrows, and culverts usually furnish current
and they always load up with baitfish. Another key to locating
late fall walleyes is finding windswept shorelines. The Twin
Cites major river systems, Mississippi and St. Croix also heat up
as temperatures drop. Crappie fishing has been pretty good so far
this fall. Anticipate locating schooling crappies on White Bear
Lake, Bald Eagle Lake, Vadnais Lake, and Forest Lake. For more
information on what is happening in the Twin Cities area lakes and
rivers stop in at the Blue Ribbon Bait & Tackle.
