Manistee

MANISTEE, ONEKEMA, BRETHREN & AREAS FISHING REPORT.

As of the 1st week of July Captain Dale from Tamboo Charters reports the salmon are scattered but are biting good when over them. They should be gathering with this nice weather. Many fish are being marked. A charter can be had with the Manistee Legend by calling 231-398-0772.

As of the 1st week in June, Brian Pall, manager of Riverside Motel & Marina reports the salmon are still scattered. For a current report call the motel at 231-723-3554.

The Riverside Motel & Marina, (231-723-3554) located on the Manistee River, is a one stop fishermans haven. Boat dockage available as well as parking, a fish cleaning station, fish freezing, a picnic area with a grill. Cable TV, walk-out patio doors, also a heated pool is on the premises. The Riverwalk is right there and you can enjoy the walk to downtown a very short distance away. The casino is 2 miles away. A very friendly center with lots of fish talk. Capt. Dave Ridley, the Manistee fishing legend, is usually around with advice and hot fishing spots. For a current fishing report and reservations give hosts, Brian and Judy Pall a call. 

As of the 1st week of July, Paul from Lake Shore Motel in Manistee reports the salmon are starting to school. Fishermen fishing the big lake are getting a mixed bag of salmon, lake trout & a few steelhead. For a current fishing report call Paul at 231-723-2667. 

The Lakeshore Motel is conveniently located where from your room you can see whether Lake Michigan can be fished due to the weather. Also you have a view of the pier. If its too rough to fish from a boat, you can surf fish off the beach. Clean rooms, fish cleaning and freezer facilities, housekeeping unit, gift shop. As of the 1st week of July, Bob from Insta Launch reports action picking up. Salmon are scattered but should be schooling at any time. Lake trout fishing fair. Manistee Lake is producing some good bluegill & bass fishing along with a few walleye.  For a current report call the shop at 231-452-8642.

Insta Launch, (231-452-8642) the largest bait & tackle shop in Manistee and area. Boat dockage available with access to Manistee Lake, Big Manistee River and Lake Michigan. The tackle department offers a large variety of lures including rods and reels. The campgrounds include 180 sites from full hook-up to primitive. 250 of sandy swimming beach. Propane, beer and wine, a lunch counter, boat & motor rental, canoe rental, fish cleaning & freezing. Everything to make it comfortable for visiting fishermen and campers. IRONS

As of the 1st week of July, Tiny from Tiny’s Trading Post reports good bluegill and bass fishing in Harper and Bass Lakes. Browns being taken in the Little Manistee & AuSable Rivers on crawlers. For a current report call 213-266-5555.

Tiny’s Trading Post is a unique tackle shop in the middle of good fishing. All your supplies need can be had here. Tiny also boast a Do-It-Yourself Car Wash. For a 4-4.5 minute wash the price is only $1.25. Most washes give you 3 minutes for $1.50. Stop by for tackle or a car wash.
