Southern Michigan & Irish Hills

Southern Michigan

Somerset Outdoors near Jerome (517-688-9077) can tell you about all of the local fishing conditions, give them a call.

Litchfield Outdoors (517-542-3663) continues their free fishing contest for most species, get that trophy registered.

John at J.T. Guns in Cement City (517-547-5055) reports a slow but steady summer with adequate shooting at chucks and turkeys.

Taylor’s Hunting Supplies near Hudson (517-448-7722) is now in their 10th  month of operation and are fully stocked with all your hunting needs.

Mary at Lakeshore Marine (517-439-9000) reports fishing for gills and bass to be “just fine”

The fishing was great when we stopped by Knutson’s (517-592-2786). ‘Gills and walleye were being caught on Clark Lake. Bass anglers were getting them on Grass and Clark Lakes. Wamplers and Vineyard were producing nice redears and they were having fun spearing and bowfishing for carp on a lot of area lakes including Center Lake. Check with the guys at the store for a current report.

Terri at Lakeside Motel (517-467-2536) reported that one of her visitors claimed to catch TWO - 16 inch bluegills. He ate them before anybody else saw them or photos were taken! Lakeside Motel is located on Wolf Lake, the first in a chain of five lakes. You can enjoy the excellent fishing on the lake and bring your own boat and dock it on Lakeside’s docks. You can also rent fishing or paddle boats. All rooms include kitchenettes, AC, cable TV, showers and are clean and cozy.

Jeff at Pine Grove Bait (517-456-7695) now carries a large selection of Schubert’s baits. One of the colors was even custom designed by Jeff. When we check in, Jeff had been out on Lake Erie a couple of times and had a ball. He came home with some nice eaters and caught some hogs while he was out.

The good folks at Three Lakes Supply (517-467-2468) reported that they had been selling a lot of bait, but most of the anglers were keeping to themselves about their catches. They were coming back for more bait, so things must have been good.  Emerson is an avid bass angler and fishes tournaments all summer long. He will let you in on his favorite baits and fishing holes if you stop by the store. Check with him about this summer’s tournaments and any that may have openings. When we visited him, anglers for all fish were anxiously awaiting better weather to get out on the water.
