Warsaw & Atwood
Red Horse
Bait and Sport Shop
(574-269-6643) is conveniently located in the midst of some of
Kosciusko County’s best fishing spots. The shop inherits the Red
Horse name from the logo of the filling station that occupied that
space for many years. Dan just acquired the Red Horse last October
and has been enjoying the time supplying the area sportsmen and
women with their sports needs. Dan continues to expand his product
line to take care of his sports-minded customers. Check his ad as
he tries to keep abreast of the baits and equipment that are just
right for the area and the folks that are stopping on their way to
the reservoirs. The Red Horse also will be stocking hunting
products, so check their ad and report for these changes. Dan has
had good luck lately fishing in some of the local bass
tournaments. He placed in the top ten in the MDA Tournament and
reports good fishing on Pike and Winona Lakes. Walleye catches
have been most successful on crank baits and jerk baits. Stop by
the Red Horse and catch up on all the area sports happenings.
Fletcher’s Bait and Bus
(574-267-1622) is located on Park Ave. in Warsaw, Indiana
conveniently centered between Pike Lake and Center Lake. They
stock the lures, tackle and live bait that are popular with the
area lakes and are open 24 hours a day for your convenience. They
also have groceries and refreshments to make your sports outing a
success. Larry reports crappie and bluegill fishing has been
excellent and they expect great pike fishing this summer. There
have been a number of largemouth bass taken from Pike Lake
recently caught on minnows and night crawlers. Pike Lake is
stocked with walleye and several other species of fish and shares
a common channel with Center Lake. Stop in at Fletcher’s for your
next outing and Larry and Lonnie will be glad to share any advice
from the area lakes.
Holiday
Inn Express
(574-268-1600) wants to assure everyone that they are ready to
accommodate your sports reservations for the spring and summer
seasons. They have facilities for your sports equipment to make
your stay as carefree as possible. They report that the musky
fishing has been a success and all of their sports patrons have
had an excellent time. They have had a good report from the MDA
Tournament and feel that everyone enjoyed their time spent in the
area and at their establishment. Call and ask for information as
they have made several special arrangements specifically for
sports outings and for the area. Early summer fishing reports have
been very favorable for the area lakes and Holiday Inn Express
looks forward to making your outing a complete success.
Things are
back to near normal at Breading’s Cigar Store
(574-269-9989). Breakfasts are being served, dominoes are being
played and Smittys’ hamburgers are being consumed at their normal
rate. The locals are convinced there is nothing foreign in the
food even though Smitty aspires to producing the finest cuisine
with European embellishments. He is still rebounding from the
aspersions about his hamburger from Dan, at Red Horse Bait, and
even went to the extent of proposing an addition to his bill of
fare. Smitty has said that if Dan will catch enough fish to keep
his connoisseur patrons satisfied he would add ‘bassburgers’ to
the menu. The folks at the domino tables responded by saying they
would try anything once! (However they did not divert their
attention from their game.) If this venture were successful,
Smitty and Dan will send the recipe off to a famous New York chef
for approval and hope that a taste testing in Warsaw would be
forthcoming. Just imagine, a taste testing with ‘bassburgers’ in
downtown Warsaw- -the mind fairly boggles at the possibilities of
such a social event. Watch Breading’s report for more in this
continuing saga!
Summer is
here and Ruby Tuesday (574-269-7821) is getting very
serious about the summer sports. They know that their customers
want to be taken care of in the best fashion after they have had
fun in the sun. Area lakes all report great panfishing with
several walleye being caught from Pike Lake. Many people are still
talking about the great musky fishing in the area, so stop by and
exchange stories with the sportsmen and women at Ruby Tuesday.
Their awesome salad bar is just the right accompaniment to any
meal or as something light to relax during those hot summer days.
Randy keeps the standards set high, as he is very proud of being
voted the #1 restaurant in the area. |
