Along the west you can experiment with spots
like Rocky Reef, Anderson’s Reef and Indian Point. Rocks are the
keys, which keep walleyes in the 12 to 14 foot ranges. The
hottest action occurs between 7p.m. to midnight. The perch will
bite all day long in the 14 to 15-foot ranges. Check out the area
off of Sherman’s Point.
South shore anglers return to shoreline points
and reefs in search of cold water walleyes. Early morning and
late evening hours should produce action along rock edges. Put
energy into working the 4 to 18 foot ranges on Malone Island,
Grassy Island, Half Moon Island and Pope’s Point. These same
areas host late fall perch during daytime hours in 14 to 18 feet
of water.
Be sure and check with the
local businesses for information on the first ice. Good sources
to check with are: Twin Pines Resort (320-692-4413, Dickie’s
Portside Resort (320-676-8795), Terry at McQuoid's Inn and Dennis
at St. Albans Bay. |
