Fishing Report - June 18, 2003

Light Hendrickson action that was excellent this season has begun to wind down.  The once consistent dry fly hatches are dwindling so anglers must change their approach a bit.  There will still be sporadic evening hatches here and there, specifically caddis (light in color).

If you nymph fish with regularity think basics: pheasant tail varieties, hare's ear varieties, perhaps a Prince or other beadhead pattern, and most importantly, get out the terrestrials.  It's beetle and ant time so don't be afraid to throw on on of these guys.  Patterns like the Black Wet Fly are absolutely deadly this time of year.  I fish it either in a tandem rig with another smaller pattern or fish it as a dropper off a dry fly.

Water conditions are clear with the absence of any consistent rain, so think stealth and fine tippets.
