ERIE & CRAWFORD COUNTIES
BY: GARY HEUBEL
OF POOR RICHARD’S
All
indications are pointing to an excellent steelhead fishing season
since many steelhead are being seen and caught out in Lake Erie.
September the steelhead will start moving up the streams. The best
bet will be to try around the mouth of the creeks using egg sacks,
powerbaits, Little Cleo, K.O. Wobbler, spoons or try Rooster
Tails. If trolling at mouth of creeks try Blakemoore Trouble
Shooter or other rattle plugs. Walleye will be tapering off in
September and perch really picks up as they prepare for the cold
months. For perch try a minnow on the bottom in 50-55 ft. of
water. In Presque Isle Bay off the weed beds and in small ponds
activity can be found for bass and pan fish using jigs and live
bait. Stop in and see Gary and Dottie at POOR RICHARD’S BAIT
& TACKLE or give them a call for the latest conditions on the
lake and streams. (814) 474-5623.

By
now most of you know about the fire at JAMESTOWN BOAT LIVERY.
However, you may not know they are rebuilding and are open for
business and still renting boats! Norm and Mark reported at
Pymatuning Lake anglers with patience in the cooler hours in the
evening or early morning are finding walleye in deeper water using
a variety of baits. It’s about the same for crappie. For some
great fishing rent one of their pontoon boats, fishing boats (with
or without motor) or a canoe. Call for conditions and
reservations. (724) 932-3267.
