ALLEGHENY RIVER FISHING REPORT
BY: JODY MAURER
Some very good smallmouth bass
fishing on the Allegheny River with the best bet for bait
minnow type lures - Rapalas, Jitter Bugs, tiny Torpedoes &
Heddon Crazy Crawlers. They are also catching nice catfish using
lots of nightcrawlers. Lots of trout are still in the streams like
Big Sandy, Sugar Creek and other local streams. Most
success seems to be using maggots and nightcrawlers. Jody and Joan
want to remind you to buy your 2000-2001 hunting license at
MAURER’S TRADING POST and you’re automatically entered
in their Big Buck Contest. Maurer’s now carries Blue
Seal Feed & Seed. For fishing conditions on the Allegheny
River and local streams call (814)

BITE ME BAIT & TACKLE reported

plastic worms or soft poppers and frogs. Trout guys are doing good
at Sandy Creek & Sugar Creek mostly on meal and wax
worms. As usual the walleye anglers aren’t talking but they sure
are buying lots of bait! For hours, information and the
latest lake and stream conditions call. (814)
